South Korean President Moon Jae-in on Tuesday awarded the members of BTS their certificates of Special Presidential Envoy for Future Generations and Culture.
In a ceremony at the Blue House in Seoul, Moon presented Kim Namjoon (RM), Kim Seokjin (Jin), Min Yoongi (SUGA), Jung Hoseok (j-hope), Park Jimin (Jimin), Kim Taehyung (V), and Jeon Jungkook (Jungkook) their diplomatic passports along with fountain pens as gifts, on top of the certificates.
Moon first announced the appointment in July, saying that the move is in line with the government’s “global agenda for future generations, including sustainable growth.”먹튀검증
In their new capacity, the group will offer messages of comfort and hope to young people around the world and participate in various activities to “promote international cooperation to solve global issues such as environment, poverty, inequality improvement, and respect for diversity.”
BTS is expected to accompany Moon to New York this September to attend the 76th UN General Assembly.
The members will attend the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Moment on September 20, where they will deliver a speech.
They gave their first UN speech in 2018, and then again in 2020.
BTS has also been behind the ongoing campaign “Love Myself” with UNICEF, which aims to end “violence toward children and teens around the world,with the hope of making the world a better place through music.”
